Can someone more knowledgeable than me help put these articles in context?

I was in a thread on the politics subreddit talking with an anti-Bernie supporter, and he posted these articles to show some issues Bernie would get eviscerated on if he were to ever debate Trump:

I didn't know enough about these issues to respond, but they've got me worried. These issues seem like good ones conservatives could bring up in their anti-Bernie rhetoric, and I'd love to be able to put them down. Can anyone here help set the record straight? Maybe Bernie's changed his policies since these articles were written, or maybe the authors misinterpreted or missed something?
