Hi Reddit! My name is Guillermo Gonzalez and I am planning to run for the House of Representatives in the U.S Congress in 2022 representing one of Houston’s districts. I am currently 23 years old but will be 25 next year, well before the 2022 midterm elections.

I am currently a teacher in the Houston area, started in January after graduating from Baylor University last December. I am Democratic Socialist and support Bernie Sanders' and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's progressive platforms. I am a first-generation Mexican-American and want to inspire other young people like me to get involved in public office.

Even though the 2022 midterm election is still years away, I wanted to get started on planning my campaign. I have been in touch with the Justice Democrats and my local Houston DSA chapter for their advice, but I would love to see what I could be doing right now to prepare for my run.

In the midst of a global pandemic, it's not easy going out to the community and talking to individuals about what they are struggling with right now. However, I would love any advice about running a grassroots campaign, and possibly getting in touch with campaign managers to make this possible.
