Some of these ideas may be too radical for most people, but that doesn’t mean their potential merits aren’t worth discussing. Plus, if we don’t start drastically shifting the Overton window on how people define democracy, we’re in danger of losing it altogether.

How would you elaborate on, add to, or change any if these?
1- Public funding for all political campaigns and a complete ban on all private funding (including self-funding)
2- Lifetime ban on all politicians or regulators from taking jobs in industries they’ve had oversight of, and from taking future lobbying jobs period.
3- Complete ban on partisan redistricting (aka gerrymandering)
4- Ban winner-take-all (FPTP) voting systems from use in general elections at all levels of government, mandate use of some form of preferential voting in its place.
5- Abolish the electoral college, presidential election by popular vote
6- Full congressional representation for people in D.C., Puerto Rico, and all other U.S. territories
7- Automatic voter registration
8- Full voting rights for felons, incarcerated peoples, and all immigrants who have resided in the country for one full congressional election cycle
9- Lower the voting age to 13
10- Paid holidays for major elections, free transportation to polling places, and polling places must be evenly distributed geographically by population
