Bernie’s Missed Vote

I'm seeing this gain steam, and it should probably be addressed/discussed here. As it stands, Bernie voted to move forward with the vote, but then he missed the vote as he was meeting with former members of his campaign concerning the sexual assault revelations. Certainly not a huge deal to me, but from a 2020 strategy standpoint, this was a bad move.

While the fact remains that the vote would not have passed with his support, and even if it had, would have been vetoed by the president, makes the point moot, but Bernie is very vocal about "principle" voting where he will essentially vote for or against things to make clear his position regardless of if his vote will change the overall outcome. Why would he not get an easy vote in here?

People in certain corners of the internet are upset (I think it's ridiculous), but still, with the uphill battle the senator will have to face given the disinformation surrounding him and some of the vitriol thrown his way, why would he be absent for this vote? He pretty much gave his opponents a reason to call him a Russian stooge for no good reason.

To be clear, I don't agree with this criticism, but this was needless and poor strategy. You'll continue to see this thrown at him for the new few years. Thoughts?

What is the best way to get involved in Bernie’s Campaign at a higher level?

I participated in Bernie's last campaign organising phone banking events and primary parties. In the next election I would really like to quit my current job and participate at a higher level.. Ideally some kind of paid position so that I can support myself during that time. My working experience is mostly with web application support for enterprise customers. I could see myself involved with communications, policy, or volunteer organisation but I'm really open to anything.

Is there anything I can do early on to position myself for a role like this should Bernie run? Maybe online classes, getting in touch with certain groups or individuals? Any input would be appreciated!

Establishment website Politico posts article on sexual violence in Bernie’s 2016 campaign on top page.

This total non-story is one of the first links on the homepage for Politico today. I guess they are coming out in full-swing now, right?

I’m surprised this isn’t bigger news. He voiced his intent to run for President in 2020 in it.

I hope he does run, but I hope he ends up being Vice President, with Beto O’Rourke at the helm. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I think the two of them together would be a dynamo team!
