Outside of the internet, real world action- talking to folks face to face, regularly, passionately, is the big deal, and that doesnt necessarily mean talking politics. These kinds of conversations, tied to committed and genuine action, stick with people in way internet exchanges dont.
I recommend that each of us on here go out into the real world and start some conversations. Truth is, older black voters, particularly in the south, have a YUGE amount to gain from a Bernie administration, and are currently tagging along with biden because hes a name they recognise and associate with the first black president. These are the voters we need. These are the voters who propelled hillary to the nomination, and are keeping sleepy joe afloat.
Bernie is from their generation, fought side by side with them in the struggle for equal rights, and continues to fight to make their lives better. Black Berners, talk to your folks! Talk to their friends! Talk as much as you can! I know that sometimes older folks arent fond of getting lectured by young'uns, but this is a great chance to really connect with them, and older folk love and need that human contact in their lives as the list of old friends runs thinner. Talk to them, listen to them, ask their advice, and reinforce the idea that our revolution is the civil rights fight of our age, and that what they learned in the fight can be invaluable knowledge it the battle we face today.
White Berners, get out of your comfort zones and start taking the time to frequent black business, build friendships, take on some volunteering work with older citizens and in worthy causes in poorer neighbourhoods. If youre in the north or on the coast, take some time out to visit the south and spread some love. You dont need to go lecture people, god knows the last thing older black citizens want is a bunch of white folks telling them whats good for them, but commit your time and effort to actually getting to know people in the black community and to help those communities to tackle the challenges facing them. Show them that we are one people, fighting for a better life together. When they ask you why you do it, tell em Bernie sent you! Tell them in Bernies America, no one gets left behind.
