Today I personally experienced why Medicare for All is so important

Today I was driving home from some errands and had a pretty profound experience. As I was sitting at a stoplight, I looked to my left, and on the side of the street there was a man on the ground shaking terribly. I quickly pulled over, went up to him, held his hand, and asked if he was okay. Apparently he was a drug addict and he told me that he just OD'd and couldn't get up and needed me to help him walk to the detox center that is only two blocks away. I told him I was going to call an ambulance for him.

He looked me in the eyes and slowly uttered the words "Please don't do that, I don't have healthcare."

Here was a man fighting for his own life, barely breathing, barely functioning, dying, and he was concerned about his health care. And the look of complete sadness and devastation in his eyes showed how worried he was about it.

Now, I always sort of laughed medicare for all off thinking it is too good to be true or not doable, but today I saw the necessity of it and why it is so important.

And for anyone wondering, I did call an ambulance and they saved his life on the spot. I live in MN so they have financial options for people like him and he won't be paying anything probably. But just the fact that he was so worried about it even while he was dying was very moving to me.

Just wanted to share that with everyone here and proclaim that I am fully aboard the MFA train, and that I'm sorry that it took something like this to change my mind.

VOTE NOW! – Important straw poll for DFA – Democracy for America (They endorsed Bernie last time)

They sent out an email – and although I didn't care for the text of it, quoting stupid headlines about other candidates polling – that is not what we should focus on. Take the straw poll. They endorsed Bernie last time based on the public's feedback. This is probably the first of many, but it helps them gauge where people are at.

ALSO: I suspect like WFP – they might end up doing ranked choice voting – so I only picked my FIRST choice – Bernie

(last time they did a straw poll Bernie didn't hit the threshold and they said if they did RCV – Warren ended up winning)

So take the poll and just pick your #1 choice. It's not the official one yet- but it is important we show the strength that Bernie has out here

Unpopular opinion: We might not achieve progressive goals under one presidency… and why that’s important.

It’s fully possible that even if Bernie (hopefully!!) becomes President, that there is enough obstruction in Congress to stop our initiatives.

Bernie has been saying this for the longest time. “Not me, Us”. The political revolution. The end goal is not Sanders 2020, the end goal is M4A, free college, Green New Deal, ending US imperialism. Of course Sanders is the best means for these goals at the moment. But what about after he is gone? To get these goals, it will require a lot of us over the next decade to run for office, get elected, and implement policy. This is a war against the corrupt institutions of this country, and the election is just a battle.

This is why the Warren-Sanders conflicts are stupid. If you are more devoted to your candidate than the ideals of democratic socialism and progressivism, we’ve already lost. On the flip side, being a progressive first, in my opinion, shows that there are problems with a Warren presidency at the moment (namely, her failure to target the Military-Industrial complex), and that Bernie is the man of the moment. But I don’t think anyone here wouldnt sleep comfortably over a Warren-Sanders ticket.

Stand for the ideas. Stand for the long term goals. Not for the candidates.

Why is Warren’s ancestry so important?

Because at least 14 year old trolls are getting involved in the political process…

This is a racist meme from her first Senate campaign. It's not part of her identity. Tulsi and Bernie deserve enormous credit for Standing Rock. Warren isn't out picketing, she doesn't have an activist history. That is a very important issue, who will fight for us?

But the attacks are borne out of racism and misogyny.

Important: we need to show sample estimates of how much people in diff income groups would save/pay under Medicare4All vs how much they currently pay

I believe this is crucial for the policy platform to gain popularity despite all the media/pundit/Democratic establishment obstacles and smokescreens and misrepresentations. And we need to do this fast – to win the battle of ideas and policy early.

It'll also make it easier for our volunteers to help inform voters of how they'd benefit. If voters see it before getting in touch with volunteers, well, it's easier for us to deal with an informed voter – a more reliable voter who won't switch sides easily.

It'll also be of help in getting republican and independent voters on our side – and make it easier for them to make up their minds. And easier for us to convince them that not only will M4À make their insurance cheaper, but it will make healthcare costs cheaper as a whole too.

We just need some samples of, say, people from 6-7 income groups, how much they pay annually currently under pri and how much they'd have to pay under M4A single payer.

Can someone on the campaign team publicise that and all of us make it go viral?

Bernie Sanders: “Whether it is the drug companies, the fossil fuel companies, Wall Street, or big agribusiness—we are taking on people who believe that short-term profits are more important than the well-being of our people. Our campaign is about saying we will not put profits over people.”

There is an ongoing scam calling people and asking them to make a phone donation. The campaign has confirmed this and said they are aware of many reports. With the power of ActBlue no campaign would need to take a donation over the phone. Tell every you know to be careful. Its currently unclear how they are getting numbers.

802.862.1505 +1: Campaign number and option select.
