Julian Assange’s arrest has some further left Youtubers lashing out

The fact Sanders has not released a statement has resulted in videos criticizing him like these:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z04IRd3QnUI

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMeyq7yC3AE

The one by Niko House is especially galling because he says in it that if getting Medicare for All means Julian Assange is tortured than "he doesn't want it." Yeah, that's fucking easy for him to say as an able-bodied person (as far as I know) or someone who doesn't have any family members that have to choose between medical care and debt for life. If you're a progressive who'll let people die or spend their lives in debt by the tens if not hundreds of thousands because you think one human being might suffer for it, then I feel you're the left wing version of a Randian.

What I'm saying is Sanders has not lost a speck of my support for not decrying Assange's arrest, but if someone wants to try and talk me into that frame of mind, have at it.

A really good twitter thread on issues Bernie is having making his case on race issues (from a left leaning Black woman)

thread

I endorse completely. He’s doing better but he’s not doing good enough drawing connections that should be easy to draw. It’s really important for left leaning folks to offer a competing race conscious narrative to the frankly superficial “hire more woman guards” rhetoric we get from democrats.

This thread also gives some valuable ways to think about these discussions for those Folks who are having these discussions with Black people who want to not come off as condescending (which, unfortunately, has been an issue I’ve seen on various social media)

Class on the Left and Bernie

I've got Facebook friends commenting on Bernie and they're basically from four communities: from 1) the working class town in the Pacific Northwest where I grew up, 2) the elite (heavily progressive/liberal leaning) liberal arts college I attended in the Midwest, 3) people I know from across the country from union organizing/other class-based social justice organizing, 4) Canadians who love Bernie (I live in Canada now). I'd say pretty much everyone loves Bernie except a vocal subset of people from 2), mainly people who are highly educated and work in white collar professions like media, policy analysis, academia. These people ALWAYS lead with "Bernie's so bad on race, ugh" but sometimes grudgingly say they'll support him anyway.

My question: do you bother to engage with people like this? I kinda feel like part of what's making the Bernie phenomenon so successful is that he's NOT the candidate of 'liberal elites' and given that he needs millions of independents/non-Dem identified people to vote for him, it's kinda just as well?

How do you feel about many on the Left who abandoned Bernie and are still Hillary apologists all of a sudden now are enamored with AOC?

I love Ocasio-Cortez and really hope she will reach the presidency in the future and is a great person to spread Bernie's original message however what bothers me is many now who still continue to bash Bernie and still love Hillary claiming her loss was the result of anything but her being a bad corporate candidate now love AOC isn't that hypocritical/poorly educated? I feel like that's our {The Left's} major flaw right now disunity and lack of knowledge of the core beliefs of our canidates. It seems now we are to quickly to decide we like someone based solely on gender/race/age etc. I've seen so many people bashing Bernie for no apparent reason yet hail AOC as the hero of the democratic party when their ideologies are nearly exactly the same. I'm really afraid this kind of mindset might scew us over in the election this year especially seeing the bad media already throwing hits at the likes of Bernie and Tulsi Gabbard.
