Why is Bernie endlessly scrutinised for the affordability of his plan when people barely bat an eye about the affordability of our insane military budget & tax cuts?

Seriously.

It wasn’t even that long ago when the new deal politics that Bernie advocates for were mainstream.

Remember that the top marginal tax rate used to be around 70%, that corporation tax used to be at 50%. Remember when Nixon said “we are all Keynesians now”

The worship of the broken status quo is so toxic.

Some people think the media doesn’t have a bias towards the wealthy, or that Bernie is too wealthy to care about the working class. So I made this table comparing Bernie’s net worth against the average family, other Democrats, and the heads and reporters of media companies. [OC]

Why some people seem to forget Bernie Sanders has Jewish ancestry and just call him ”another white man” ?

The racist use his Jewish ancestry to offend him, but among Democrats I've seen some people saying that the candidate must be a woman, a person of colour, etc..

but why they ignore Bernie is a part of a minority himself ? Just because he ''looks white'' ?

Wouldn’t Bernie’s Medicare for all *save* 2 trillion? Why are people upset? Also student loan forgiveness question.

(new to Bernie and dig him! not a troll. Just trying to understand numbers lol)

Why do people keep saying Medicare for all is gonna cost a ton of money? I just did a basic Google search and according to multiple reports it looks like annual Healthcare in the United States costs roughly $ 3.5 trillion each year. Over a ten year period that comes out to be $ 35 trillion. I also read multiple reports and economists stating that Bernie's plan would cost $ 32 trillion over 10 years. Aren't we actually saving money with his plan? Why are people upset?

Also, in regards to student loan forgiveness (again I definitely support the hell out of this. I'm buried in loans): would his plan be an immediate total wipe of all loans or would it be a gradual thing? I know he said he wants to tax Wall Street speculation. Would any money come from the taxpayers? Would he actually be able to bypass the government who hold those loans? Thanks for any clarification. Just trying to get those issues straight. Thanks!

When trying to convince people to consider Bernie, DON’T just try to convince people of his policies. DON’T list everything he’s going to accomplish. Instead ASK them questions and LISTEN to them

Researcher in social psychology here. You’re never going to convince anyone by just proclaiming his best policies and regurgitating basic talking points and just saying the things you’re excited for. People have their own innate biases that will make them reject everything you say if it doesn’t go along with their preconceived notions.

Instead, ask. Ask them who they like and don’t like and listen. Listen to their reasons and don’t try to debate. Bring up topics and ask their opinion on them.

If you find that they have views that align with a view, bring it up and that’s it. Don’t turn it into a pitch; people will not listen.

If/when they ask for more information, that’s when you bring up his policies, what he believes we should do, and his current approaches. The key is that they asked. They wanted to learn more and you facilitated this. That’s how you create long-lasting attitudinal changes.

Any other strategy will just cause you to argue with people who aren’t really looking to change their minds.

Targeted pitches for Green New Deal – this proposal gives us millions of new voters if we can explain how this benefits them. These are (some of) the sectors and industries where people need to make aware

Donate and support us on Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/bePatron?c=1785147

Auto Workers – Billions of investment into EVs that will stimulate the sector. Trade in program that will generate sales for dealerships.

Steel/Heavy Industry Workers – The amount of machinery and goods used in this transition. Manufacturing for renewable generation technology, smart grids, batteries, public transport lines. Billions of dollars of value to the sector, if not trillions

Electricians and Electrical Engineers – New Smart grid system will be a massive stimulus to the sector

Renovation and Construction – Trillions in investment for retrofitting of existing homes and businesses. Affordable housing construction

Electrical/Chemical/Materials Engineers – Billions of dollars in investment into these sectors.

Construction Workers – Absolutely bonkers the amount of work they will have with new transport, electrical, water etc networks. Road System

Farmers – High $ $ $ per acre for carbon sequestration through renewable agriculture

I'm pulling these benefits from https://berniesanders.com/issues/the-green-new-deal/, I'll keep updating as others contribute
